I can't even write what a joke our "unified" school district has become, so instead I'll show the traditional first day of school pictures. Maddie started middle school yesterday. She didn't get home til after 5:15 because of the transportation nightmare. We live 5 minutes from the school. She liked all her teachers and thought it was pretty fun, despite the craziness of the day.
Elle is in 3rd grade and she got home 40 minutes late yesterday (we live less than 5 minutes from elementary). But she really likes her teacher and thinks things will work out with her classmate. Let's hope for a drama-free year! Mostly she can't wait for her birthday (which is today!)
And here's Will. His first day is today, and it's the only day he goes this week. They only have 5-7 kids come each day in each class so they can really get a feel for the routine. He has been really really nervous about going, but after we got there and settled, he was already making friends and having fun. I'm anxious to hear all about it! I loved his classroom (there were windows!), appropriate toys, little tables and cubbies. I felt very good about it. His teacher is very organized and has been teaching in that same room for 21 years.
Now, let's hope all the kids can come home today in reasonable time--we have plans for some fun with Elle!
