Junior Beta Club Induction

Last Tuesday Maddie had her Beta Club Induction ceremony.  Tyler was out of town that night, so I dropped the 2 middle kids off at my visiting teachers house and Wyb and I attended this oh so fancy big deal ceremony.  Maddie said that all the girls were talking about the fancy dresses they were buying for the affair and I agreed to make a new dress for her (she does need some new church clothes in reality).  And, I've been dying to use the Vintage Natalie dress pattern because it's so pretty.

She really wanted navy with big white polka dots, but we couldn't find just the right thing, so I talked her into gray with black dots.  The pattern is nice, and it was going fine until I decided after the fact that I wanted piping around the neckline.  It's not a good idea to add piping after you've already sewn and lined the neckline/bodice.  When I sewed it back up, it just didn't lay quite right.  Oh well.  This is also the same dress that the olive oil fiasco happened on.  I think it recovered quite well.  I thought she looked very refined and classy and  modest.  And she was excited to wear my pearls.
Getting pinned.

 My date for the event.

Maddie's teacher.  All the kids adore this guy.

She was way too embarrassed for a decent photo shoot.  This is the best I could do.
We are so proud of Maddie for her good grades and hard work at school!

Where do I even begin?????!!!!!!

OK, first off, I'm super jealous of your date!!! Easy on a grandma's eyes!

The dress!!!! Sooo sophisticated. Love the pattern and the fabric is just right-all class!

Maddie: the hair-perfect-just what the occasion ordered. The glasses: makes one look extra smart but Maddie needs no help with that! The pearls, well, that's a no-brainer for such a smart event. Picture perfect I'd say.

Thanks for the great photo spread!

(OK, maybe the venue could have been a little posher, like a local tea room in an old home downtown.)
